April 9th is whimsically observed as National Unicorn Day, celebrating the mythical creature that has symbolized purity, grace, and wonder throughout history. While seemingly fanciful, this day invites us to reflect on deeper spiritual qualities: the childlike faith that Jesus praised, the beauty of imagination as a divine gift, and our capacity to see beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. These prayers encourage us to embrace hope, wonder, and the unseen realities that faith reveals to us.

April 9 Prayer – Divine Revelation
Lord our God,
Dear Father in heaven, we are gathered in your presence
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Reveal to us our Savior Jesus Christ.
May the Savior be revealed to us;
otherwise in our need we will never come through.
Grant that at this late hour for the world
we may see him as he is,
and through him and through the kingdom that he brings
we may be lifted above the troubles of our time.
Strengthen our hearts every day,
and fill us with joy because you guide everything
on earth as in heaven;
in the end you will give us the victory
that belongs to the kingdom you have founded.
May we be comforted through all eternity in this kingdom,
a kingdom far greater and more glorious
than all the kingdoms of the world.
Amen.

April 9 Prayer – Hope in Waiting
Dear Lord,
Thank you that in your word, I have hope.
Thank you that this hope fills me and strengthens me
as I wait on you amid these challenging circumstances
I am walking through.
Thank you that I can rest in You,
knowing that you will do things in your time,
and in your way,
and that you are working everything out for my good.
Amen.

Devotional Reflection
While Unicorn Day might seem purely whimsical, it reminds us of something profound about our faith journey. Just as children believe in magical creatures they cannot see, our spiritual life calls us to believe in divine realities beyond physical sight. Jesus himself praised childlike faith and warned against losing our capacity for wonder and trust.
The first prayer focuses on revelation—asking to see Christ as he truly is. Like recognizing something mythical in the ordinary world, spiritual sight requires both divine grace and human openness. We pray to perceive the extraordinary kingdom breaking into our everyday reality.
The second prayer embraces hope amid uncertainty. When circumstances challenge us, faith becomes our anchor—not in what we can immediately verify, but in God’s unseen work and timing. Like imagining a unicorn requires suspending disbelief, true hope requires us to envision God’s promises fulfilled before we see their manifestation.
