“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved.”
It’s always good to be reminded of the simple gospel. God, because he loves us more than we can possibly even imagine and because he is overflowing with mercy, gave us new life in Christ, even when we were dead in our sins. By grace we have been saved, not by our own doing, but through faith.
It’s always good to be reminded of the depth of God’s great love for us. Think of the lengths that he went to have you. Think of the price he paid to save you. He gave the life of his own Son to purchase yours. You and I were as good as dead in the sinful lives we lived before Christ, but even when we were dead, God wanted us. He made us alive again through Christ. He gave us a second chance at life. He set our feet on solid ground and showed us a better way to walk, but assured us that even if we fell down he’d still pick us up. What great love! What a powerful truth.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe that I could be worthy of love like that. Maybe I’m not. But it doesn’t really matter. It’s not a question of worthiness. It’s really not a question at all. It’s simply a fact. God loves me. He created me, he gave me life, and he loves me. There’s no question of good enough or too bad, holy enough, worthy enough, or any other qualifications. There is simply love. That love is what saves me. That love is what can save you.
Believe in the gospel of Jesus and you will have new life through him. You will be brought from death in sin to life in Christ by the grace and love of our God. There could be nothing better than that.
You have loved me so well, and I am so undeserving, but I am so thankful to be loved by you. Thank you for saving me, thank you for giving me grace upon grace, and thank you for giving me new life.
In Jesus’ Name,
