Daily Devotional – Amos 2:12 – March 05, 2026

““But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink,
and commanded the prophets, saying, ‘Don’t prophesy!’” – Amos 2:12

When I read this verse, I envision a scene of rebellion against God’s chosen ways, where the sacred call of the Nazirites and prophets is overshadowed by the allure of worldly pleasures and silence.

**Amos 2:12** highlights the tension between God’s calling and the pressures of society that seek to divert His people from their divine purpose. The Nazirites, who were set apart for holiness, were tempted to indulge in wine, while the prophets faced opposition in their mission to speak God’s truth. This illustrates the ongoing struggle believers face against distractions and discouragements that can lead us away from our God-given assignments.

As Christians, we can apply this verse by recognizing the voices and influences in our lives that may tempt us to compromise our faith or silence our calling. It’s essential to remain steadfast in our commitment to God, finding strength in prayer and community to resist the pressures that seek to sway us from our mission.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to remain faithful to the calling You have placed on my life, resisting the distractions that seek to pull me away from You. Grant me the courage to speak Your truth boldly and to live in a way that honors You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
