Quaker prayer is a unique form of spiritual practice that emphasizes silence and the inner voice of the divine. Quakers, also known as the Religious Society of Friends, believe that every person has the ability to connect with the divine without the need for intermediaries or formal religious structures. Therefore, Quaker prayer often involves sitting together in silence, waiting for the spirit to move within each individual. During this time, Quakers may reflect on a specific issue or question, listen for inspiration or guidance, or simply be present in the moment. If someone feels led to speak, they may share their insights with the group, but there is no pressure to do so. Quaker prayer is a deeply personal and communal experience that encourages individuals to deepen their relationship with the divine and connect with others in a spirit of love and compassion.
Please read the prayers below which will provide guidance for Quaker Prayer. May God Bless You!
Quaker Prayer
God,
Open my eyes and unstop my ears, that I may see your Light and may hear your heartbeat, reflecting and resounding within my chest, in those of all of my neighbors, near and far, in all creatures and plants, and in the ground I walk upon. And when I finally am able to yield to the leading of your rhythm and flow, may I come to walk cheerfully over the world answering your seed in all.
Amen.
