Lineworkers bring light and communication to places that have lost it. There’s something almost biblical about that: “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light.”
Historical Context
A Lineman’s Prayer
Lord, as I climb today, keep my footing sure and my hands steady.
Keep me alert around live lines.
Watch over my crew, our ground men and our trucks.
Through the morning mist, the noonday sun and the evening shadows,
protect us from every danger.
Let me bring light and power back to the people who need it,
and bring me home safely at the end of the shift.
Amen.
For Storm Restoration Crews
Lord, bless the crews working long hours to restore power after the storm.
Keep them safe, fed and rested, and bless the people they serve.
Amen.
For Lineworkers’ Families
Lord, give peace to the families who wait when the storm calls their lineman away.
Amen.
A Prayer of Thanks for Line Crews
Lord, thank you for the men and women who keep the lights on.
Amen.
Best Times for This Prayer

- Before heading out on a storm call.
- On 18 April, Lineworker Appreciation Day.
Scripture Connection
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” — Matthew 5:14
Lineworkers literally bring light to the world. Jesus calls every Christian to do the same in another way.
