Daily Devotional – Habakkuk 1:17 – July 06, 2024

“Will he therefore continually empty his net, and kill the nations without mercy?” – Habakkuk 1:17

When I read this verse, I picture a relentless fisherman casting his net over and over again, with no regard for the life he captures.

Habakkuk 1:17 raises a sobering question about the relentless and merciless actions of those who seek to dominate and destroy. It reminds us that there are forces in the world that act without compassion, often causing widespread suffering. As Christians, we are called to stand against such injustices and to be instruments of God’s mercy and love. We should strive to be compassionate and just in all our actions, reflecting God’s character in a world that often lacks mercy.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to be agents of Your mercy and love in a world that often acts without compassion. Give us the courage to stand against injustice and the wisdom to act with Your grace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
