Daily Devotional – 1 Samuel 5:11 – July 05, 2024

“They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and they said, “Send the ark of the God of Israel away, and let it go again to its own place, that it not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly confusion throughout all the city. The hand of God was very heavy there.” – 1 Samuel 5:11

When I read this verse, I imagine the overwhelming presence of God’s power and the urgency in the Philistines’ plea.

1 Samuel 5:11 reflects the immense impact of God’s presence, even among those who did not worship Him. The Philistines recognized the severity of God’s hand upon them and sought to remove the ark from their midst to save themselves from further calamity. As Christians, we are reminded of the reverence and respect due to God’s presence and power in our lives. We should be mindful of how we carry His presence and ensure that we live in a way that honors Him, recognizing His sovereignty and seeking His guidance in all things.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to always honor Your presence and power in our lives. May we seek to live in a way that glorifies You and acknowledges Your sovereignty. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
