“There is nothing from outside of the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.” – Mark 7:15
When I read this verse, I envision the heart as a garden, where the true nature of a person is revealed by what they cultivate within.
Mark 7:15 reminds us that it is not external factors that define our character, but rather the intentions and thoughts that arise from within. This teaches us that our actions and words stem from our inner state, illustrating the importance of nurturing a spirit filled with love, kindness, and truth. As Christians, we can apply this by focusing on our inner thoughts and attitudes, allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us so that what flows from our hearts reflects Christ’s love.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to cultivate a heart that is aligned with Your will, so that the words and actions that flow from me are pleasing in Your sight. May I focus on nurturing my inner life, reflecting Your love and grace to those around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
