“But Jesus, when he heard the message spoken, immediately said to the ruler of the synagogue,
“Don’t be afraid, only believe.”” – Mark 5:36
When I read this verse, I can almost feel the tension in the air as fear grips the heart of the synagogue ruler. In that moment, Jesus speaks words that pierce through the darkness: “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” Mark 5:36 reminds us that faith is a powerful antidote to fear. When we encounter challenges or uncertainties, we are called to shift our focus from our fears to our faith, trusting in God’s promises and His ability to act in our lives.
As Christians, we can apply this verse by actively choosing to believe in God’s goodness and sovereignty, even when circumstances seem dire. Instead of allowing fear to paralyze us, we can remind ourselves of the times God has been faithful in the past and lean on that foundation as we face the present. Daily, we can practice surrendering our worries to God and embracing the peace that comes from believing in Him.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to silence my fears and strengthen my faith in You. Teach me to trust in Your plans, knowing that You are always with me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
