“He said,
“Abba, Father, all things are possible to you. Please remove this cup from me. However, not what I desire, but what you desire.”” – Mark 14:36
When I read this verse, I imagine Jesus in the garden, grappling with the weight of what lies ahead, yet fully surrendering to the will of the Father.
Mark 14:36 reflects the profound intimacy Jesus had with God, addressing Him as “Abba,” which signifies a deep, personal relationship. In this moment of anguish, Jesus models for us the balance between expressing our desires and yielding to God’s greater plan. As Christians, we are called to bring our struggles and desires before God, yet we must also trust that His will is ultimately for our good, even when we cannot see the path ahead.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to trust in Your plan and to surrender my desires to You, just as Jesus did. May I find peace in knowing that Your will is always perfect. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
