Daily Devotional – Mark 10:50 – August 07, 2025

“He, casting away his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.” – Mark 10:50

When I read this verse, I picture Bartimaeus, blind and desperate, shedding his cloak—the symbol of his past—and rushing towards the very source of hope and healing.

Mark 10:50 reflects a moment of bold faith and urgency. Bartimaeus, upon hearing Jesus call, recognizes the opportunity for transformation and does not hesitate to act. For Christians, this verse invites us to identify what we need to cast aside—doubt, fear, or past burdens—so we can fully embrace the path Jesus has for us. It encourages us to respond to His call with the same enthusiasm and readiness, knowing that He is waiting to restore and heal our lives.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to recognize the things I need to cast aside in order to draw closer to You. May I respond to Your call with the same urgency and faith as Bartimaeus. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
