“Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed.
They couldn’t blush.
Therefore they will fall among those who fall.
In the time of their visitation they will be cast down, says Yahweh.” – Jeremiah 8:12
When I read this verse, I envision a society so entrenched in sin that it no longer feels the weight of its actions.
**Jeremiah 8:12** reveals the heartbreaking reality of a people who have lost their sense of shame for wrongdoing. Their inability to blush at their abominations signifies a deep disconnection from God and His standards of righteousness. As Christians, we are called to be sensitive to the Spirit’s conviction and to uphold the truth, allowing ourselves to feel remorse for sin so that we can seek forgiveness and restoration.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to remain sensitive to the things that grieve Your heart. May I never become desensitized to sin, but rather, seek to reflect Your love and righteousness in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
