Daily Devotional – Jeremiah 14:4 – November 19, 2024

“Because of the ground which is cracked,
because no rain has been in the land,
the plowmen are disappointed.
They cover their heads.” – Jeremiah 14:4

When I read this verse, I envision the parched earth, the weary farmers, and the heaviness of unfulfilled hopes.

Jeremiah 14:4 reflects a time of drought and disappointment, illustrating the deep struggles that arise when our expectations are met with harsh realities. Just as the plowmen are disheartened by the cracked ground, we too may face seasons of spiritual drought, where our efforts seem fruitless and our prayers feel unanswered. In these moments, we are called to trust in God’s timing and provision, remembering that He is present even in our struggles.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to trust in Your unfailing love during times of drought and disappointment. Remind me that even when I cannot see the growth, You are working behind the scenes for my good. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
