“In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, Yahweh’s word came by Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,” – Haggai 1:1
When I read this verse, I envision a quiet moment in history when God chose to speak through His prophet, Haggai, at a pivotal time for His people. It reminds us that God is actively involved in our lives, guiding leaders and communities through His divine message.
Haggai 1:1 reveals the importance of God’s timing and His desire to communicate with us through chosen vessels. Just as God spoke to Zerubbabel and Joshua, He continues to speak to us today through His Word and the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we can apply this by seeking God’s guidance in our decisions, being open to His direction, and recognizing the leaders He places in our lives as instruments of His will.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for speaking to us and guiding us through Your Word. Help us to listen for Your voice and to follow the paths You lay out for us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
