Daily Devotional – Genesis 3:17 – April 08, 2025

“To Adam he said,
“Because you have listened to your wife’s voice,
and ate from the tree,
about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it,’
the ground is cursed for your sake.
You will eat from it with much labor all the days of your life.” – Genesis 3:17

When I read this verse, I envision Adam standing in the garden, the weight of his choice heavy upon him as the joyful paradise transforms into a place of toil and hardship.

Genesis 3:17 reflects the profound consequences of disobedience, illustrating how one choice can alter the course of life. Adam’s decision to listen to his wife rather than God led to a curse on the ground, symbolizing the struggles we face as a result of sin. As Christians, we can apply this lesson by prioritizing God’s voice over worldly influences, seeking His guidance in our decisions, and accepting responsibility for our actions while trusting in His grace to redeem our struggles.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to listen to Your voice above all others and guide us in our choices. May we find strength in our labor and trust in Your plan for our lives. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
