“One who had escaped came and told Abram, the Hebrew. At that time, he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and they were allies of Abram.” – Genesis 14:13
When I read this verse, I imagine the urgency of a messenger racing to deliver news that could change everything for Abram and his allies.
**Genesis 14:13** One who had escaped came and told Abram, the Hebrew. At that time, he lived by the oaks of Mamre, the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner; and they were allies of Abram. This verse highlights the importance of community and alliances in our lives, as Abram’s support system played a crucial role in the challenges he faced. Just as Abram had allies to lean on, we too should cultivate relationships with others who can support and encourage us in our walk of faith.

Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of community and for the allies You place in our lives. Help us to be supportive friends to others and to seek help and encouragement when we need it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
