Daily Devotional – Genesis 11:9 – October 12, 2025

“Therefore its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of all the earth. From there, Yahweh scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.” – Genesis 11:9

When I read this verse, I picture a bustling city where people, once united by a common purpose, suddenly find themselves speaking different languages, struggling to communicate.

**Genesis 11:9** reminds us that God has the power to confuse and disperse when humanity tries to elevate itself above divine intentions. The story of Babel serves as a reminder of the consequences of pride and self-sufficiency, illustrating that our attempts to build our own kingdoms can lead to division. As Christians, we can apply this lesson by fostering unity and understanding in our communities, recognizing that our diversity is a gift from God rather than a barrier.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to embrace our differences and seek unity in You. May we communicate Your love and grace across all barriers and work together for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
