“wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us; and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross;” – Colossians 2:14
When I read this verse, I envision the heavy burden of guilt and condemnation being lifted off my shoulders, replaced by the lightness of grace.
Colossians 2:14 reminds us that Christ has dealt with our sins and the legal demands of the law that were against us. He has removed the barriers that kept us from a relationship with God, symbolically nailing our transgressions to the cross. Christians can apply this truth by embracing the freedom that comes from forgiveness, letting go of past guilt, and living in the assurance that we are made new in Christ.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for the incredible gift of grace that removes our sins from us. Help us to walk in the freedom You provide and to share that same grace with others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
