““I sent plagues among you like I did Egypt.
I have slain your young men with the sword,
and have carried away your horses;
and I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camp,
yet you haven’t returned to me,” says Yahweh.” – Amos 4:10
When I read this verse, I am struck by the severity of God’s warnings and the depth of His desire for His people to return to Him. It’s a vivid reminder of how, despite the chaos and destruction we may face, God is always calling us back to a relationship with Him.
Amos 4:10 reflects God’s heartache over His people’s rebellion and the consequences they faced as a result. Even in the midst of their suffering, God’s ultimate desire was for them to recognize their need for Him and turn back. As Christians, we can apply this to our lives by examining the areas where we may have strayed and intentionally returning to God, seeking His guidance and restoration.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to recognize the ways I may be wandering from You and give me the strength to return to Your embrace. May I always seek Your presence, even in times of trial. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
