“Yahweh says:
“For three transgressions of Gaza, yes, for four,
I will not turn away its punishment;
because they carried away captive the whole community,
to deliver them up to Edom;” – Amos 1:6
When I read this verse, I imagine the weight of injustice and the consequences that follow when we turn away from righteousness.
**Amos 1:6** reveals God’s deep concern for justice and the accountability of nations for their actions. Gaza’s transgressions were serious enough for God to declare impending punishment, highlighting that persistent wrongdoing does not go unnoticed. As Christians, we are called to reflect on our own actions and ensure that we uphold justice and compassion in our interactions, striving to be advocates for those who are oppressed or marginalized.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to recognize the importance of justice in our lives and to stand against wrongdoing in our communities. May we be instruments of your peace and righteousness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
