“Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his lord.” – 2 Chronicles 13:6
When I read this verse, I imagine a once-loyal servant, fueled by ambition and a desire for power, choosing rebellion over faithfulness.
**2 Chronicles 13:6** reminds us of how easily someone can turn away from their appointed authority, seeking personal gain at the expense of loyalty and unity. Jeroboam’s rebellion serves as a warning about the dangers of pride and discontentment, which can lead us to betray those we once served. As Christians, we are called to evaluate our hearts and motives, ensuring our actions align with God’s will rather than our selfish desires.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to remain faithful and loyal in my relationships and responsibilities, guarding my heart against pride and rebellion. May I always seek Your will above my own desires. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
