“Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abijah. They were judges in Beersheba.” – 1 Samuel 8:2
When I read this verse, I picture the quiet strength of two men stepping into their roles as judges, guiding their community with wisdom and integrity.
1 Samuel 8:2 reminds us of the importance of leadership and the legacy we create through our families. Joel and Abijah served as judges, suggesting that their upbringing and choices were significant in shaping their roles in society. As Christians, we are called to be leaders in our own spheres of influence, whether in our families, workplaces, or communities, reflecting God’s justice and mercy in our actions.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to lead with wisdom and integrity in my life, just as Joel and Abijah did. May I be an example of Your love and justice in my community. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
