“Now Eli was ninety-eight years old. His eyes were set, so that he could not see.” – 1 Samuel 4:15
When I read this verse, I imagine Eli, a once-vibrant priest, now sitting in silence, his physical sight dimmed, yet still carrying the weight of wisdom from his years.
1 Samuel 4:15 reflects the inevitable passage of time and the limitations that come with age. Eli, despite his failing eyesight, serves as a reminder that our physical conditions do not define our value or our ability to influence others. Christians can apply this by recognizing that, regardless of our limitations, we can still share our experiences and wisdom with those around us, encouraging and guiding them in their faith journey.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to embrace the wisdom gained through our experiences and to share it with others, regardless of our physical limitations. May we continue to be vessels of Your love and guidance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
