Daily Devotional – 1 Samuel 10:27 – January 18, 2026

“But certain worthless fellows said, “How could this man save us?” They despised him, and brought him no present. But he held his peace.” – 1 Samuel 10:27

When I read this verse, I picture a daunting crowd filled with skepticism, casting doubt on a man chosen for greatness.

1 Samuel 10:27 reflects the reality that not everyone will believe in or support those whom God has called, and sometimes the negativity can be overwhelming. Despite the disdain directed at him, Saul chose to hold his peace, demonstrating restraint and a commitment to his purpose. As Christians, we are called to remain steadfast in our faith and mission, even when faced with criticism or doubt from others. Our confidence should be rooted in God’s calling rather than the opinions of those around us.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to remain focused on Your purpose for my life, even when faced with doubt and negativity from others. May I find strength in Your presence and hold my peace as I trust in Your plan. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
