“Therefore they asked of Yahweh further, “Is there yet a man to come here?”
Yahweh answered, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.”” – 1 Samuel 10:22
When I read this verse, I picture a moment of anticipation where a leader is needed, but the chosen one is hiding away, overwhelmed by the weight of responsibility.
1 Samuel 10:22 reveals a powerful truth about our human nature—often, when called to lead or step into our purpose, we may instinctively retreat, feeling unworthy or fearful. Saul, though chosen by God, was hiding among the baggage, illustrating how we sometimes let our insecurities and doubts overshadow our divine calling. Christians can take heart in knowing that even when we feel inadequate, God sees our potential and calls us to rise above our fears.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to step out from behind my fears and insecurities, trusting in Your plan and purpose for my life. Give me the courage to embrace the calling You have placed on my heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
