“For you most certainly give thanks well, but the other person is not built up.” – 1 Corinthians 14:17
When I read this verse, I imagine a gathering of believers, each offering their praises and prayers, yet some feeling overlooked and unencouraged.
1 Corinthians 14:17 reminds us that our expressions of gratitude and worship, while sincere, must also consider the impact they have on others. It calls us to be mindful of how our actions and words contribute to building up the faith community. As Christians, we can strive to encourage and uplift those around us by ensuring our gifts and praises serve to strengthen and support our fellow believers rather than merely satisfying our own spiritual needs.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to be attentive to the needs of others in my expressions of gratitude and worship. May my words and actions always aim to build up my brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
