Daily Devotional – Mark 5:39 – October 20, 2025

“When he had entered in, he said to them,
“Why do you make an uproar and weep? The child is not dead, but is asleep.”” – Mark 5:39

When I read this verse, I imagine the scene filled with sorrow, where hope seems lost, yet Jesus steps in with a calming presence, reminding us of His power over death.

Mark 5:39 reminds us that what appears to be the end may not be the end at all—Jesus sees beyond our immediate circumstances. In moments of despair, we can find comfort in knowing that God can bring life and hope into situations that seem hopeless. By trusting in His ability to transform our circumstances, we can maintain our faith even when we face trials that feel overwhelming.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to remember that You are the source of hope and life, even in my darkest moments. Strengthen my faith to believe that what seems dead in my life can be revived by Your power. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
