“He said to them,
“Are you also without understanding? Don’t you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can’t defile him,” – Mark 7:18
When I read this verse, I imagine the confusion of the disciples as they grapple with Jesus’ teachings, questioning the religious norms they’ve always known.
**Mark 7:18** Jesus challenges the idea that external factors can corrupt a person’s heart. This verse reminds us that true defilement comes from within—our thoughts, intentions, and actions reflect our inner spiritual state. As Christians, we are called to cultivate our hearts and minds, focusing on what is pure and honorable rather than being consumed by external judgments or societal expectations.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to focus on the condition of my heart and to seek purity within. May I be mindful of my thoughts and actions, reflecting Your love and grace in all I do. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
