“Then Eli called Samuel, and said, “Samuel, my son!”
He said, “Here I am.”” – 1 Samuel 3:16
When I read this verse, I picture the quiet night in the temple, where a young Samuel is resting, ready to respond to the call of Eli. His immediate reply, “Here I am,” reflects a heart that is attentive and willing to serve.
1 Samuel 3:16 reminds us of the importance of being attentive to God’s voice and responding with readiness. Just as Samuel was responsive to Eli’s call, we too should cultivate a posture of openness towards God’s guidance in our lives. This verse encourages Christians to listen carefully for God’s direction and be willing to say “Here I am” when He calls us to action or service.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to be attentive to Your voice and ready to respond to Your call in my life. May I always say “Here I am” with a willing heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
