Daily Devotional – Mark 10:35 – June 19, 2025

“James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”” – Mark 10:35

When I read this verse, I imagine James and John approaching Jesus with eager hearts, filled with hopes and desires. **Mark 10:35** highlights the boldness of the disciples as they seek something from their Teacher, reflecting a common human tendency to ask for what we want without considering the implications. This moment serves as a reminder that our requests should align with God’s will and purpose for our lives, rather than simply fulfilling our own desires.

As Christians, we can apply this verse by being intentional in our prayers, seeking not just what we want, but understanding God’s greater plan for us. It encourages us to approach God with our requests while also being open to His guidance and wisdom, recognizing that His answers may differ from our expectations. We can cultivate a spirit of humility and trust, allowing our relationship with Him to deepen through our conversations and petitions.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to seek Your will above my own desires and to trust in Your perfect plan for my life. May my requests reflect a heart aligned with Your purposes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
