Daily Devotional – Mark 12:14 – May 22, 2025

“When they had come, they asked him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and don’t defer to anyone; for you aren’t partial to anyone, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” – Mark 12:14

When I read this verse, I envision the tension in the air as the questioners approach Jesus, aware that their inquiry is a trap but also eager to hear the wisdom of the Teacher.

**Mark 12:14** This passage highlights the integrity and impartiality of Jesus as He confronts a challenging question about authority and obligation. Despite the pressure from those who seek to undermine Him, He remains steadfast in teaching the truth. As Christians, we are called to reflect this same honesty and courage, standing firm in our convictions while navigating the complexities of life.

Christians can apply this verse by examining our own responses to challenging situations, ensuring that our actions align with our faith. We must be willing to speak the truth with grace, remembering that our ultimate allegiance is to God, even when faced with difficult societal pressures.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to embody honesty and integrity in all areas of my life, especially when faced with tough decisions. May I seek Your wisdom and stand firm in my faith, trusting in Your guidance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
