“Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai was over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon.” – Numbers 10:19
When I read this verse, I imagine the organized strength of a community, each member playing their part under the leadership of a faithful servant. Numbers 10:19 reflects the importance of leadership and responsibility within God’s people, showing how each tribe had a designated leader to guide them in their journey. Just as Shelumiel led the tribe of Simeon, we too are called to embrace our roles within the Body of Christ, using our gifts to serve others and advance His kingdom.
As Christians, we can apply this verse by recognizing the significance of our contributions, no matter how small they may seem. Whether in our families, workplaces, or church communities, we are encouraged to step into leadership roles, support one another, and work together for God’s purposes. By doing so, we honor the structure God has designed for us and strengthen our collective mission.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for the leaders You place in our lives and the roles You call us to fulfill. Help us to embrace our responsibilities with faithfulness and courage, so that together we may advance Your kingdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
