“Shall we give, or shall we not give?”
But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them,
“Why do you test me? Bring me a denarius, that I may see it.”” – Mark 12:15
When I read this verse, I picture Jesus calmly addressing the crowd, discerning their intentions with wisdom and grace, while holding the coin that represented worldly wealth.
**Mark 12:15** Jesus exposes the hypocrisy of those who question him about giving, revealing their ulterior motives. This interaction teaches us that our intentions matter just as much as our actions. As Christians, we are called to give generously and with a pure heart, not out of obligation or for the sake of appearances, but as a reflection of our love for God and others.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to give with sincerity and to examine my heart’s motives in all I do. May my generosity reflect Your love and grace in the world around me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
