Daily Devotional – 1 Samuel 2:5 – February 01, 2025

“Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread.
Those who were hungry are satisfied.
Yes, the barren has borne seven.
She who has many children languishes.” – 1 Samuel 2:5

When I read this verse, I envision a great reversal, where the proud and self-sufficient find themselves in need, while the humble and desperate are lifted up by God’s grace.

1 Samuel 2:5 reflects the profound truth of God’s sovereignty and the surprising ways He operates in our lives. It reminds us that what seems like abundance can lead to emptiness, while true fulfillment often comes from unexpected places. As Christians, we can apply this by recognizing that our worth and satisfaction come not from our achievements or possessions, but from our relationship with God, who provides for our needs in His perfect timing.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for reminding me that true satisfaction and fulfillment come from You alone. Help me to trust in Your provision and to seek humility in my heart, knowing that You lift up the lowly. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
