“and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”” – 2 Chronicles 10:14
When I read this verse, I envision a young leader standing at a crossroads, faced with the weight of expectations and the consequences of his decisions.
**2 Chronicles 10:14** reveals a pivotal moment in Rehoboam’s reign, where he chooses to escalate the burden on his people rather than seek wisdom. This decision ultimately leads to division and strife. As Christians, we are reminded of the importance of humility and seeking counsel from God before making decisions that affect others. Instead of adding to burdens, we are called to be servants who lighten the load through love and compassion.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to be a source of encouragement and support to those around me rather than adding to their burdens. Grant me wisdom to lead with grace and humility in all my decisions. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
