“He answered them,
“It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish.” – Mark 14:20
When I read this verse, I am struck by the intimacy and betrayal portrayed in Jesus’ words about his betrayer being one who dipped with him in the dish. It highlights the heartache of betrayal even among close relationships.
Mark 14:20 reminds us to be mindful of the company we keep, and to be vigilant of potential betrayals within our own circles. As Christians, we are called to cultivate relationships based on love, trust, and mutual respect, while also being aware that not everyone may be genuine in their intentions.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to discern the true intentions of those around us and to foster relationships built on love and trust. May we find strength in You when faced with betrayal, and may Your grace guide us to forgive and move forward in faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
