“Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?
No, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush.
Therefore they will fall among those who fall.
When I visit them, they will be cast down,” says Yahweh.” – Jeremiah 6:15
When I read this verse, I am struck by the portrayal of a people who have become so hardened in their sin that they no longer feel shame or remorse for their abominable actions.
Jeremiah 6:15 reminds us of the danger of becoming desensitized to sin and losing our ability to feel convicted by our wrongdoing. As Christians, we must guard our hearts against the numbing effects of sin and stay sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, allowing Him to convict us and lead us back to righteousness.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help us to remain sensitive to Your conviction and responsive to Your leading. May we never become calloused to sin but instead seek Your forgiveness and guidance in all things. Strengthen us to walk in Your ways and uphold Your truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
