Daily Devotional – Habakkuk 1:11 – July 16, 2024

“Then he sweeps by like the wind, and goes on. He is indeed guilty, whose strength is his god.”” – Habakkuk 1:11

When I read this verse, I am reminded of the fleeting nature of human strength and power compared to the eternal strength found in God. Habakkuk warns against putting our trust in our own abilities, for they are temporary and ultimately lead to guilt.

Habakkuk 1:11 highlights the danger of making idols out of our own strength and abilities, rather than relying on God. As Christians, we are called to acknowledge our limitations and weaknesses, and to place our trust in the unchanging strength of God. By surrendering our pride and self-reliance, we can experience true freedom and peace in knowing that God is our ultimate source of strength.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to humble ourselves before You and to recognize that our strength comes from You alone. May we not be led astray by the temptations of self-sufficiency, but instead, find our security and confidence in You. Guide us to rely on Your power and grace in all circumstances. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
