“We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
2 Peter 2:19-21
Have you ever found it hard to believe someone or something? Is it hard for you to understand the relevance or significance of an event without being a part of it yourself? If you answered yes, then you might also struggle believing or understanding the Bible.
The Bible is obviously important, but what for? Is it just an old historical book, or a set of scrolls? Is it an irrelevant text in today’s society? The answer for most Christians is no. The Bible is important, is relevant, and bears the most significance of any text we have today all because it is the only document ever written that came directly from God. God used human authors such as Paul, and other men to write words that he inspired.
The Bible is filled with many truths, and many stories. Throughout the OId and New Testament we see God’s laws recorded, miraculous stories of faith, and then even the life and death of Jesus. Within the many pages of Scripture we are able to see who God is, was, and will be. We are able to use the Bible to learn about God, and his desire for our life as a Christian. As Christians, the Bible should be the most important book we ever read.
Prayer:
God,
Thank you for giving us your Word in the Holy Bible. Lord help us to see and understand the relevance and significance of your word. Help us to abide by it and to act on it all the while learning more about you.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
