“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
Matthew 24:42
If Jesus were coming back tomorrow, what would you be doing differently? Would you live life like normal today? Would you stick to your normal routines tonight before you go to bed? Would you be confident? Would you be scared? Would you try to reach out to anyone in particular? Would you try to share the gospel with anyone before it was too late?
Think about that for a moment. How different would your life really be?
The truth is, that’s how Jesus wants you to live today, and every day. The truth is, we don’t know when he’s coming back, and any day could be our last. If there are people that you need to forgive, what are you waiting for? If there are people you need to seek forgiveness from, what are you waiting for? If you have loved ones that don’t know the good news of Jesus, why are you delaying?
This message is simple, but important. Any day could be the day that Jesus returns. Any moment could be the moment that he comes back to judge the living and the dead. There is no reason to delay. There is nothing that we should be waiting for. The message of Jesus Christ is urgent!
If you know Christ, then it is your duty to love your neighbor. The greatest way to love your neighbor, whoever they may be, is to share Jesus with them. Don’t wait for tomorrow, because tomorrow isn’t promised. We’re not even guaranteed another hour! If you have the chance to share the gospel, don’t delay it. If you have the chance to make peace, don’t put it off.
Live like Jesus was coming back today. Someday, be it today, tomorrow, or fifty years from now, it will be the truth.
Prayer:
Father,
I’m sorry for my unbelief. I’m sorry that I’ve built my life around the assumption that there will always be more tomorrows. I pray that I will live my life urgently for the gospel of Jesus, that I will always live like he is coming back soon, and that I will not waste a moment of the time you’ve given me. I pray that Jesus will come back soon, and that he will take me home with you.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
